Some unforeseen scheduling conflicts have derailed some of our biggest plans for the con — and since our goal is to provide you with the best convention possible, we believe that postponing the event so we can give you a better show next year is the best course of action. We sincerely apologize to all our fans who were looking forward to attending this event. We hope that you will look into attending AnimeWorld Chicago or AnimeWorld Indianapolis this year instead, and join us in Minneapolis in 2013!

Hey there AnimeWorld fans! You may notice that we’re about to get more posts on the home pages of all our websites. We’ve decided to incorporate a blog into our websites to provide you guys with fun and new interesting information about all things related to Anime and Conventions! However, due to current software, all new posts of any type will be posted on the home page. Since these blog posts cover topics that aren’t directly linked to administrative news regarding, AnimeWorld conventions we realized that this may make our home page look a little cluttered. We’ve come up with a potential solution. Take a look at the underlined text in the picture below.

If a post on the main page says it was submitted in “News”, it is news relevant to the conventions themselves and may require your attention. If a post has been listed as a blog post, the post may be relevant to your interest and general knowledge but is not directly related to any of the conventions.

Hope this helps clear up any possible confusion. Stay tuned if you’re interested in just perusing our upcoming blog posts! We have just posted our first one up, and it is a summary of our experience at Ohayocon 2012. Check it out if you’re interested!

Hey there AnimeWorld fans! Members of our team recently went to Ohayocon in Columbus, Ohio to promote our three AnimeWorld conventions and BOY was it fun! If you haven’t heard of this convention and live in the Midwest area (or ever have the option of going) it might be worth your while to check it out! Ohayocon is always held at the end of January, so it is a GREAT start to your convention year. The con site is huge with ample places to meet up with fellow cosplayers and the convention itself always offers a large variety of panels and events. The food court built into the convention center is also a great feature (I think a lot of us are far too familiar with limited food options near conventions). This year was even bigger than the last and I can only see it getting larger! I saw some great things at the convention and I’m excited to share our experience with you!

There were a number of things that we enjoyed at Ohayocon. Unfortunately, if we listed them all we’d simply go on forever. One of the things we really enjoyed was the dealer room ,which was extremely well organized. Members of our team were able to get a first hand look at preparations before the con began and the take down post convention. Unlike previous years where convention table swaps were situated in the hallways, all promotion conventions had been comfortably situated along one of the walls of the Dealer’s Room. It was great fun seeing all the dealers setting up their wares and some of them even came over to talk to the other conventions that were there promoting. The staff members of Ohayocon were also more than helpful in dealing with problems when they arose and the dealers that were present provided attendees with a plethora of items to look at and purchase.

In addition to the dealer room we thoroughly enjoyed going through artist’s alley. Ohayocon opted to do the same thing they did last year and situate artist’s alley in the same location. There was a HUGE variety of artists representing themselves and their art styles. While I was going around talking to all the various artists I saw some great work (and even found an artist there that I’d admired on Deviantart for years! It was such a random occurrence and it was great to meet her!).

Last, but certainly not least, we found that the cosplayers brought their best out as always. Like any convention, everyone wants to see the new cosplays that are being produced by fellow fans. This year I saw a huge explosion of My Little Pony and Homestuck cosplayers (not that that’s a bad thing!). As always, Ohayocon attracts people from all over, which also brings in a large variety of fans from different kinds anime, video games, etc. Some of our department heads and staff members joined the fray and cosplayed from a variety of series (Homestuck, Sailor Moon, Avatar the Last Airbender, Star Wars, and Vocaloid to name a few). Check out some of the impressive photos The Enthusiasts shot of some of our staff members and department heads during their private shoots at Ohayocon below!

This picture features myself cosplaying as Luka Megurine in her black magnet version from Vocaloid!

We had an amazing time meeting all of the people that stopped by our table to win some free candy and t-shirts! A lot of people received our fliers around the convention and stopped by to check out our table and win starburst, kit kats, Hershey’s chocolate bars, and a variety of other candy while signing up for our mailing list (which automatically enters them into our badge and hotel raffle). Fifteen lucky attendees won AnimeWorld Chicago shirts! Lastly, a lot of people were really interested in entering our mascot design contest (see rules here!)

We had an interesting time at the con and we can’t wait to post about the next one some of our staff members attend and we can only hope that our own events are as well received as other ones like Ohayocon are!

You should not only love Anime, but be interested in working hard building the midwest’s most exciting new Anime cons. You will work directly with Alec Peters, the Con chairman and with Kasey Zhong, the Director of Promotions. Marketing will include reaching out to community organizations, retailers and groups that AnimeWorld would be interested in having participate at our events in each city. So you should be local to one of AnimeWorld’s three locations, Chicago, Indianapolis or Minneapolis. You will have the opportunity to travel to different cons representing AnimeWorld with our staff and have your expenses paid.
